In 2004, after two years overseeing a Risk Retention Group (RRG), Positive Physicians Insurance Exchange received approval from the PA Department of Insurance to transition to an insurance exchange model – allowing us to develop an optimal alternative to traditional malpractice coverage options available to physicians in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Since our transition to an exchange, PPIX has successfully expanded to insure and retain several hundred physicians in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey from various specialties such as Internal Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, Urology, Emergency Medicine, Physiatry, Anesthesia, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Radiology, Pain Management, Ophthalmology and Podiatry.

As a domiciled reciprocal insurance exchange, our mission has always been to provide a stable, long-term physician-driven resource to control medical malpractice insurance that will allow our policyholders the peace of mind to grow and develop their practices without rising insurance rates threatening business survival.
