Step II – Underwriter Review
After your application is received and all questions have been answered, it is handed to our underwriting department for review. Our underwriting policies and procedures are among the fairest in the state and are based on a sound understanding of the Pennsylvania marketplace. They also incorporate our medical review board’s experience in order to get a real life appreciation of an applicant’s risk profile.
We talk directly with our applicants to better understand the claim, as well as the physician’s position toward the claim. We appreciate that each situation is unique and that although similar in circumstance no two claims are exactly alike. Each claim is reviewed individually to make sure you are receiving the appropriate rate based on your claims.

Step III – Rate Review and Approval
Coverage is provided on a claims made basis. By offering coverage via this format, we are able to keep rates competitive while providing comprehensive policyies for our clients.
After rates are obtained, we will review them with the policyholder over the phone or in person to answer any questions or concerns. Positive Physicians Insurance Exchange is in the business to serve the needs of our policyholders and is committed to controlling expense ratios in order to maximize efficiency at all times.

Step IV – Subscription Fee and Annual Contract
After rates are approved, we ask our policyholders to sign an annual contract and pay a surplus subscription fee for on-going services provided. Premium and capital financing are offered at reasonable and competitive rates for policyholder convenience.
The surplus fee is how Positive Physicians Insurance Exchange is funded. The fee is based on the mature premium for each physician specialty.

Step V – Personal Risk Management Coordinator/Support Services
As a final step in our process, you assign a personal risk management coordinator for your office who will be trained in our risk management initiatives. The risk management coordinator will be involved in quarterly meetings to review potential claims concerns, train staff on how to decrease risk, and utilize other important steps to ensure that all practices are current in how to minimize claims exposure.
